Biography
This Sydney Soprano is making a name for herself as one of Australia’s fastest emerging and versatile sopranos. This Sydney Soprano is a multi-award-winning performer with a wide-ranging repertoire from Opera to Broadway, and spectacular ability to captivate audiences with her powerful and virtuosic voice.
Australian-born with strong Italian heritage, This Sydney Soprano started her musical journey at the age of 14 after being accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School for gifted musicians and dancers. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, The University of Melbourne. In her final year of graduating, she won first prize in the prestigious Italian Acclaim Opera Fellowship Awards which enabled her to study at the Teatro Accademia alla Scala (La Scala) in Milan, Italy, launching her professional singing career.
She made her professional debut performing the role of Susanna in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO at Teatro Moriconi. During her time in Europe, she performed in Italy, Austria, Germany, and England with performance highlights including the Operetta ‘Ich liebe die Welt’ Music Festival with the AIMS Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria and the Pergolesi Spontini Music Festival in Jesi, Italy.
She now resides in Sydney, performing regularly with Australia’s National Opera Company, Opera Australia. Her first engagement with the company saw her touring Australia for two years, performing the title roles of Isabella and Ferdinand in the new opera EL KID featuring the music of Bizet’s CARMEN. Highlight performances with Opera Australia also include LA BOHEME at Handa Opera on the Harbour, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR and AIDA at the Sydney Opera House. Giuseppina has also performed principal roles with Victorian Opera, Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria and Opera Scholars Australia. Notable operatic roles include Frasquita CARMEN, Valencienne THE MERRY WIDOW, Swallow THE HAPPY PRINCE, Josephine HMS PINAFORE, Dido DIDO AND AENEA, and Daughter SNOW WHITE AND OTHER GRIMM TALES (International Opera Premiere).
In addition to opera work, she has also performed in many musical theatre productions including LES MISERABLES, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, ANNIE, and THE KING AND I. She was nominated for Best Female Performer in a Supporting Role in The Music Theatre Guild Awards for her acclaimed performance of Lady Thiang in THE KING AND I.
This Sydney Soprano performs regularly alongside some of Australia’s most celebrated artists as their special guest Soprano, headlining with artists including Mark Vincent (Australia’s Got Talent Winner) in his ‘You Raise Me Up’ 2018 National Tour, The Australian Tenors ‘Friends for Life’ 2018 Tour, and Violin Maestro Ian Cooper’s ‘An Afternoon at the Proms’ tour. She has also shared the stage with illustrious artists including Yvonne Kenny, Marina Prior, David Hobson, Teddy Tahu Rhodes and James Morrison at Opera in the Alps, Opera by the Loch, and Opera in the Market with the Alpha Sinfonia Orchestra. Being recognised as one of Australia’s finest young opera singers, Giuseppina was featured on the Channel Seven Network in Sydney’s Woolworths Carols in the Domain hosted by Sunrise.
By popular demand, she again joins The Australian Tenors for their ‘Spirit of Australia’ 2019 National Tour as their special guest artist accompanied by the Southern Cross Orchestra. She will also be featured in The Australian Tenors New Album Release in 2019. Additionally, this year sees her singing with Opera Australia at the Sydney Opera House and performing on Bravo Cruise of Performing Arts and many Luxury Cruise Lines.
