Oscar

Oscar – Australian born guitarist and composer Oscar Poncell is blessed with a diversified musical palette. His passion and commitment to the guitar have been pivotal to his success in exploring the musical landscape of his past and present. He draws upon the traditions of South and Central American music, African music, Jazz and contemporary music to bring compositions and arrangements that are abundant in originality and rhythmic elements that are idiomatic to these styles.

Since his formal studies in music and with various highly respected guitar mentors, Oscar has become an outstanding guitarist and has had the opportunity to perform at major Australian Festivals such as Melbourne International Jazz Festival 2008 – Womadelaide 2007 – Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival 2007 –Wangarratta Jazz Festival 2015. He has toured internationally to Chile, Germany, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia.

He has performed solo for The RACV Club Melbourne, The Qantas Lounge, 2010 – 11 NMIT Graduation VIP dinners – Melbourne Town Hall, weddings, conferences and others.

Oscar can perform as a solo guitarist playing his original compositions for guitar and his own arrangements of Latin music repertoire. He is also able to play with a percussionist to add a little fire to the performance!
