This is the sound of Adelaide’s new cover band “My Brother George”. As an acoustic trio, they are perfectly suited to both the wine bar and the front bar. More intimate than a full rock band yet more versatile than the common acoustic duo, “My Brother George” blends funky beats and crafty guitar rhythms with Carmela’s beautiful, jazz inspired melodies and Craig’s edgy rock vocals to offer a great variety in sound and style. From popular acts such as John Mayer and Adele to surprising artists like Janelle Monae, Gabrielle Aplin and Death Cab for Cutie, “My Brother George” gives their own flavour to every song.
Not only is the range of tunes they perform impressive, but also their ability to change it up “on the day” to suit the event, venue or crowd ensuring the perfect atmosphere for any gig. The use of live drums also enables “My Brother George” to either strip it back to suit a quieter setting, but also importantly step it up where a solid back beat is needed to keep the crowd dancing and tapping their feet! Therein lies the surprising element of this band. At one show, “It’s my life” by Bon Jovi will blend perfectly into the backdrop of a Barossa Valley vineyard, and the next week be played to a front bar of patrons singing their happy heads off! That’s the beauty of live music performed by a band willing to take great songs to fresh and surprising places! This is – “My Brother George”.
