Mel Searle’s timeless voice, reminiscent of the jazz greats of yesteryear, will captivate you. Although a relative newcomer to Melbourne’s Jazz scene, Mel is definitively making a name for herself as a gifted and distinctive jazz vocalist. Her debut album ‘Serenade In Blue’ was released earlier this year to a sold out audience. With an innate talent for vocal improvisation and an exquisite vocal warmth and depth of tone, Mel’s vocals are luminescent and empathetic. Illumination is a key concept in Mel’s approach to producing sound. Creating a transparency within her vocals that brings light and clarity is something she works hard to attain. This, combined with her superb control and artistry result in a musical sophistication which is compelling because of its simplicity and beauty.
