Biography

These 4 exceptionally talented musicians are passionate about chamber music and are devoted to communicating this through the experience of live performance.

Enigma has performed several concerts at the Art Gallery of NSW as part of their popular Sunday Lunchtime Series. They have been broadcast across Australia for Sunday Live on ABC Classic FM, given a concert tour of New Zealand’s South Island and performed at the Australia Day celebrations. Enigma were announced 2nd prize winners in the prestigious 2011 Musica Viva Chamber Music Award as part of the Sydney Eisteddfod.

They have been invited to perform in the Hunter Baille Spring Festival in Annandale as well as appearing in a major retrospective concert at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music to honour the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski. Enigma performed to guests including Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush at the Sydney launch of ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ and were also the invited international guest artists for the Canterbury Academy of Music’s 25th Anniversary celebrations in Christchurch.

Enigma has a vibrant and innovative approach to a wide range of musical styles. They have appeared many times on Australian Idol, the Today Show, Sunrise, Domestic Blitz and Mornings with Kerri-Anne as well as performing and recording alongside contemporary artists such as Angus and Julia Stone, Passenger, Lior, Katie Noonan, The Cat Empire, Kanye West, Ronan Keating, David Campbell, Jimmy Barnes, Wendy Matthews, Mark Lizotte, Tina Arena, Human Nature, Hayley Westenra, the Ten Tenors, Patrizio Buanne, Il Divo and Missy Higgins.

Enigma Quartet offers a 1.5 hour wedding ceremony package that includes music whilst your guests are arriving, performances during the service including bridesmaids and bridal entrance, signing of the register, recessional and any specially requested musical interludes, and celebratory music at the conclusion of the ceremony depending on time available.
