Biography
Casamance provide beautiful music to compliment any special occasion.
The unique combination of the kora (African harp) and alto and bamboo flutes create an exquisite texture that is gentle, uplifting, powerful and reflective.
Simon Lewis is a professional artist with a broad range of talents and a strong passion for his art.
He has been facilitating people through drumming for more than 20 years and is highly regarded as a teacher of world percussion.
He has lived and studied traditional djembe, dundun, balafon and kora in Guinea West Africa with Master drummers Lamine Soumah, Aliou Sylla and the world famous Les Percussions De Guinea.
Simon has performed in Japan and Europe, at Womadelaide, Woodford and many other major festivals around Australia.
Daniel, (flute, didjeridu, saxophone, vocals, light percussion), started playing the flute at aged 10.
His musical education includes a Certificate in Jazz performance from NMIT, and an improvisation degree from the VCA.
Daniel has embraced a rich diversity of music including a performance and study tour to India (1997), a Didjeridu study tour to Australia’s Arnhemland (2000), touring in Turkey with Turkish fusion band Unified Gecko (2005) and a European tour with the organic trance group Morph (2006) Daniel extended his passion for West African music and dance with a study tour to Ghana (2007) and he now also performs African style music with the group Ouaga and The Marabou Project.
