Biography

Swinging classics from the roaring 20’s, swinging 30’s and 40’s and R&B swing from the 40’s and 50’s. This ensemble, which can be booked as a 5, 6 or 8 piece and features some of Melbourne’s finest jazz musicians, including lead vocalist, Julie O’Hara.

The Swingtone’s repertoire pays homage to Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Lionel Hampton and presents songs made famous by vocalists Billie Holiday, Louie Prima, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole, Anita O’Day and many others.

Sophisticated and mellow to fiery and swingin’, the Swingtones’ purpose at your event is to lift people’s spirits with music that has stood the test of time.

For a small big band sound, the 8 piece is highly recommended!

Instrumentation:

vocals, drums, double bass, piano, guitar, trumpet/tenor/trombone (horns optional)
