Professor Kerryn Phelps is Adjunct Professor at Sydney University in the Faculty of Medicine in the Schools of Public Health and General Practice.
A busy GP herself, Dr Phelps became interested in medical politics several years ago and in 1999 was elected to the position of NSW AMA President.
In May 2000 Professor Phelps was elected Federal AMA President, becoming the first woman ever to head this organisation and serving a maximum term of three years.
Kerryn Phelps has been a familiar face to many Australians over the last twenty years during which time she has appeared regularly on television, radio and the print media informing the Australian public on important health issues. She is also a keen advocate of Human rights and leading health and lifestyle speaker.
