Biography
The ‘Lady’ of Lady & The Tramps, is one Helen Catanchin, a highly expressive and gifted jazz singer with nine years performing and recording experience. Helen’s lifelong love of music and singing led her to leave a career in ecological science to pursue her passion, and since then she has performed as lead vocalist with her band at festivals and venues the likes of the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival, Eltham Town Jazz & Blues Festival, and Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. She has also performed live with acclaimed international and local artists including Mavis Staples, Joss Stone, Rickie Lee Jones, John Abercrombie, The Black Arm Band and Lior, and has featured on several albums as a lead vocalist, choral member and backing vocalist.
Helen’s ‘Tramps’ are made up of the most renowned and sought after instrumentalists on the Melbourne jazz scene, and are available in a range of band configurations and instrumentation formats, from duo to quintet.
