Biography
Jackie B Jazz
Jackie B Jazz has performed venues in Australia and the UK over the past 15 years. She is a regular at Melbourne’s top Jazz venues including Paris Cat Jazz Club, Lido Jazz Room and Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. Jackie’s box of tunes takes the audience to the cool jazz of the 1950s, jazz manouche of Paris, and bossa of Brazil. With a particular talent for storytelling through song, Jackie gets to the heart of a tune and imparts a range of emotions through her use of varied vocal timbres. An experienced performer in duo, trio and larger jazz ensemble formats, Jackie works with a range of the most sought-after musicians in the Australian jazz scene.
Growing up in a musical family with a musical diet heavily laden with big band swing, bebop and modern jazz, Jackie developed an ear for jazz from childhood. Trained classically as a child (in voice, piano and clarinet), she went on to study Jazz Voice Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts and has been strongly influenced by modern vocal greats including Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves and Dee Dee Bridgewater.
