Sally Hughes

Biography

Sally received her Bachelor of Music (with Distinction) under several scholarships from the Melba Conservatorium of Music and continued her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music.

A versatile performer, Sally has appeared on television’s GMA and performs regularly throughout Australia in several music styles, including musical theatre, opera, lieder and oratorio.

Sally has performed in many large-scale music theatre productions, appearing as Young Sally in ‘˜Follies’, Maria in ‘The Sound of Music’, Margot Bonvalet in ‘The Desert Song’, Rosa Bud in ‘The Mystery of Edwin Drood’, Laurey in ‘Oklahoma!’, Anna in ‘The King & I’, Hope Harcourt in ‘Anything Goes’, Mrs Segstrom in A Little Night Music’, Maria in ‘West Side Story’ and Emma Carew in ‘Jekyll & Hyde’, for which she received a Victorian Music Theatre Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress.

For the past five years Sally has performed in the highly successful corporate act, Yummy Opera, directed by Glynn Nicholas.
She is also an authorized marriage celebrant.
