Biography
Paul Stubbings has been playing guitar since the age of 8. Making his way through high school with top marks and one of the youngest musicians to play in the senior band at Immanuel College Paul then successfully completed a Cert. IV and Diploma in commercial music performance that lead onto completing a Bachelor of Music at Adelaide University in Jazz performance. Gaining a Graduate Diploma Paul is now finishing a Masters while performing regularly.
Paul is capable of many styles both instrumental and vocal. Influenced by Tommy Emmanuel, Adam Rafferty, Chet Baker, Antoine Defour, Tim Sparks and Jazz greats such as Wes Montgomery, Martin Taylor and Joe Pass Paul has worked a large repertoire of instrumental guitar pieces including his own releases ‘Highway Special’, ‘Blue Room’, ‘Chill Check’, and ‘Double Label’. Paul’s instrumental set uses all of these artists arrangements as well as his own.
Vocal influences include Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Passenger, Jason Mraz, Niall McCabe as well as jazz legends Mel Torme, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Bublé.
These unique influences give Paul a perfect style to suit a relaxed atmosphere giving people the opportunity to watch, engage, chat, or enjoy the overall atmosphere while taking activities at their own pace.”
