Biography

Josh Piterman

Josh Piterman is perfectly fit for the stage. He has forged a professional career as both a successful fitness entrepreneur and an award winning performing artist in musical theatre.

Growing up with a passion for sport he played AFL and Tennis with the desire of becoming a Physiotherapist, but instead his passion for entertaining and singing took him to The University of Ballarat Arts Academy where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) in 2006.  His musical theatre credits include playing Bustopher Jones/Gus/Growltiger in the 2016 season of Cats, a role that won him the Green Room Award for Best Supporting Actor in A Musical; Edward in Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers; Corny Collins in the UK tour of Hairspray; Ramon Gutierrez in An Officer And A Gentleman; Michael in Grease 2; and The Caliph in Kismet for The Production Company. Josh kicked off his career performing with the International group, The Ten Tenors and then made his mark as Tony in the 2010 tour of West Side Story. An early career highlight was when he understudied/played George in The Drowsy Chaperone for Melbourne Theatre Company alongside Geoffrey Rush.

While he toured and successfully secured leading and supporting roles, Josh still managed to make fitness and his enjoyment of training a priority and it’s only helped his energy and performance strength on stage. As Josh says “It’s eight shows a week and there is no other sport that does game day eight times a week. So it’s not just about keeping fit and staying strong and injury-free but also what sort of recovery work we do, what do we eat, how do we fuel ourselves so we can do it all over again … sometimes twice a day.” Josh gained numerous fitness training qualifications including being one of Australia’s ‘Master Functional Trainers’ and researched fitness training by doing internships with footy teams such as the Melbourne Football Club. He founded Melbourne’s elite functional fitness studio ‘PITFIT’ to provide a creative, fun, and motivational approach to fitness.
