Biography
Drawing inspiration from success in the charts for MTV Total Request Live in Milan, Italy to the quietude of Tasmania, Gabe is an award-winning songwriter. His voice, clear and warm, brings melodies alive sounding easy and effortless. His lyrical honesty, knitted with unique arrangements for modern ensemble capture a feeling, a reflection, a realisation; his songs, which he calls “photographs of experience”, say “what I usually I have no chance to say”.
Accompanied only by his guitar and a few pedal effects, Gabe today offers a solo acoustic performance of his own music, reduced to its essentiality but also a wide variety of reinterpretation of covers spanning from The Beatles to David Bowie, Green Day to Foo Fighters, filling the room with the appropriate music for the vibe, sweet and chilled or energetic and dancy. As a self-taught guitarist and singer, Gabe would say also a “self-taught man”, he debuted in the music industry in 2006 with his band “The New Story”, signed by Amos Levy Management he released his first LP album “Untold Stories” at 22. This album was reissued in 2007 through EMI/Virgin. Tours followed across Europe and in Japan. Following this, Dagrezio recorded a second album “Different Ways” with the English producer Steve Lyon (Depeche Mode, Paul McCartney) for EMI/Virgin and toured Europe again for 2 years.
After The New Story split up in 2009, Dagrezio reinvented his work in 2011 founding the band “Prime” with drummer Roberto Carella. Within three months they won the National Red Bull battle of the bands in Italy with three songs “The Rage”, “Deep” and “Make a Change”.
Gabe still learns from life; a life recognising the power of failure and success. a life inspired by travelling, reading about philosophy and religion, experiencing other cultures, embracing the value of peace, quietude and introspection, all in pursuit of a music and life marked by insight into who he is and who we are: a quest for the song unplayed, the song we have inside.
