Biography

Blake is a multi award winning artist, who has performed in Theatres and Concert Halls throughout Australia and Europe, he is equally at home on the Opera, Musical and recital stage.

His career has seen him perform in Sydney Opera House, Paris – Chatelet Theatre, Tokyo Concert Hall, Tel Aviv Opera House, Malmo Opera House, Salzburg Festpiel Opera House, Scottish Opera, London Covent Garden, Glydnebourne Opera, Cape Town Opera, Princess Theatre Melbourne, Brisbane Lyric Theatre, Melbourne Concert Hall, Perth Concert Hall and Berlin Philharmonie, to name but a few.

Blake was born in Melbourne, Australia where he attended the Victorian College of the Arts, before awards and scholarships gained in Australia enabled him to further his career in the UK and study and at the Royal Northern College of Music –UK ,as a Peter Moores Scholar. Blake was awarded the RNCM’s prestigious Gold Medal in 2003. After a 10 year career in Europe, he returned to Australia with his family in 2012.

As a winner of the prestigious ‘Mietta’s City of Melbourne Song Recital Award.’ he has performed recitals all over Australia including the 1998 Melbourne International Festival, broadcast on ABC FM, the Mildura & Castlemaine festivals, the 1999 Brisbane International Festival and Sydney ‘ABC Studio’ Lunchtime recital recording. He also won the Geelong, Mordialloc, Booroondara, Cowra, City of Shoalhaven and Ballarat Star for Opera Aria competitions. He was also a finalist and multiple prize winner in the Australian Singing Competition- Mathy Awards in 1998 & 1999, and a finalist in the International Young Opera Singer of the World competition held in Llangollen in 2000

Recordings include ‘A Shropshire Lad’ – Move Records, Errand Boy A Dinner Engagement with Richard Hickox CHANDOS label and Panas Cherevichki, a Garsington Opera Live recording.

Blake has recently returned from performing Ravenal in Showboat with Cape Town Opera, performing throughout the UK and Ireland, as well as in Cape Town- South Africa, and is currently performing a series of recitals in Melbourne and Sydney with Art Song International.
