Biography

Holden began his career with the legendary rock group ‘Ol55’, one of the most successful Australian recording acts of all time, and has gone on to be recognized as one of our most versatile and popular performers. Frankie has created some of television’s most memorable characters through leading roles in long-running serials: Embassy, Police Rescue, Round The Twist, Something In The Air, Underbelly and The Strip. He has also played guest roles in virtually every drama and sitcom on Australian television including Blue Heelers and Stingers and recently played the role of Calwell in Chifley’s 50 Days. Most recently, he featured in an extended guest role in the final episode of All Saints, and in the ABC detective comedy Sleuth 101. In 1990 Frankie was awarded Best Actor in a tele-feature by both the Australian Film Institute and the Australian Television Society for his performance in ‘Police Crop’, as an honest man fighting corruption in the federal police force. Frankie has appeared in over thirty films both here and overseas, beginning with The Odd Angry Shot in 1979. His film work includes High Tide, Evil Angels, The Big Steal, Proof, Hammers Over The Anvil, Fortunes Of War shot in the Phillipines, opposite Martin Sheen. The 1989 film Return Home earned Frankie an AFI Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film. Such is Frank’s standing within the Australian Film Industry he has hosted the AFI Awards three times. Frankie filmed Lost & Found late in 2005 and the feature Clubland with Brenda Blethyn in 2006. In theatre, Frankie has toured with The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas (1981), The Rocky Horror Show (1992) and Grease (1994). Frankie J. Holden is also a very experienced and successful television presenter with many years experience. Frankie is in demand as a corporate speaker, MC and entertainer. Based in NSW, travels Australia wide (extra fees involved).
