Melbourne’s Andy J has had great success over the last 5 years as a producer, remixer, DJ and national radio host. Under the alter ego “Sgt Slick”, his debut release “White Treble Black Bass” won the ARIA Award in ’98 for Best Dance Release, and was a global club hit, topping the Mixmag UK Club Chart and being licensed in every major territory worldwide.

Biography

Melbourne’s Andy J has had great success over the last 5 years as a producer, remixer, DJ and national radio host. Under the alter ego “Sgt Slick”, his debut release “White Treble Black Bass” won the ARIA Award in ’98 for Best Dance Release, and was a global club hit, topping the Mixmag UK Club Chart and being licensed in every major territory worldwide. The follow up “Let It Ride” was also nominated for an ARIA in the same category, after becoming a massive club and radio hit in 2001.

2005 saw a number of new releases and collaborations for Andy, he has completed tunes with Groove Armada vocalist “Valerie M” and Defected vocalist “Lurine Cato”, and his latest release on Vicious, “Tha Muzik”, jumped straight into the Australian Club Chart top 10, and has just been signed to massive European label Purple Eye. His forthcoming release, the INXS sampling “Tilt My Hat”, has just been completed. the package also containing hot mixes from NYC’s “Live Element”. Andy also recently mixed the “Tinted: Global House” CD with LA’s “Deep Swing”, and “Insane House Vol. 1” and “Wild Nights” for Australian label “Tinted”.

As well as the Sgt Slick project, Andy has been involved in a number of other collaborations with Melbourne DJ / Producers including Blackout with Vicious owners Andy Van and John Course, and Darren Glen, whose “Gotta Have Hope” was a worldwide chart and club hit (top 30 UK singles chart), and Smash &’ Grab, whose new single “She Don’t Like That” recently charged straight into the Australian top 40 and is still a firm favorite on national radio. The massive follow up “Closer” is due for imminent release.

Andy’s services as a remixer have also been in high demand over the last 5 years, and he has “slicked up” releases from Paul Mac, Tina Arena, Delta Goodrem, Cyndi Lauper and most recently Mark James (Is That A Pistol?) and Live Element (Something About You).
