Vinyl DJs

vinyl DJs

Vinyl records are the predecessor of CD technology. Vinyl refers to Analog Long Playing Records (LPs).  While vinyl is not as mainstream today as it was back in the day, the format is still in use especially by DJs.  Old School Vinyl DJs  spin, mix and scratch records.  Scratching, sometimes referred to as scrubbing, is a DJ and turntablist technique used to produce distinctive percussive or rhythmic sounds and sound effects by moving a vinyl record back and forth on a turntable while optionally manipulating the crossfader on a DJ mixer. Vinyl is fuller, rounder, and has deeper bass.

When DJs spin vinyl, they put far more effort into the songs they select (All killer tracks no fillers tracks) as they only have limited space in their record box that they have to carry with them. Vinyl DJs spend time buying and collection records. They know how to navigate through their music much more effectively than someone who randomly plays free MP3s they download the day of their gig.
